As a plastic surgeon who is an Expert Injector, Dr. Mandal first began performing Sculptra® in her patients in 2010. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a facial injectable that works gradually over a series of treatments for a subtle, more youthful looking appearance.

Sculptra® Aesthetic targets the underlying causes of facial aging. It can give you noticeable results that emerge subtly and last for up to 2 years. It begins to work in the deep dermis where your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra® Aesthetic helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores fullness to deep facial wrinkles, folds and volume-depleted facial areas.

Unlike other temporary fillers which give immediate results, Sculptra® Aesthetic gradually and subtly corrects facial wrinkles and volume loss, giving a more refined, youthful appearance that can last up to 2 years. 

How It Works

Sculptra® Aesthetic is a synthetic Poly-L-lactic acid, a material that has commonly been used in dissolvable stitches and soft tissue implants. A natural form of Poly-L-lactic acid is produced in your muscles during exercise. Sculptra® Aesthetic works by gradually increasing skin thickness through stimulation of collagen. It is biocompatible and can be dissolved by the body.

As an Expert Injector, Dr. Mandal uses Sculptra® Aesthetic in a diverse range of facial areas and concerns to restore volume to:

• Nasolabial or “parentheses” lines or folds

Treatment

Sculptra® Aesthetic is available in individual vials. Dr. Mandal typically pre-mixes lidocaine with Sculptra® Aesthetic for a more comfortable treatment experience. Sculptra® Aesthetic treatments can be performed in less than 30 minutes, allowing patients to resume most routine activities immediately following treatment.

Results

The results from Sculptra® Aesthetic are not immediate and take at least 4-6 weeks to become visible. Sculptra® Aesthetic is often performed in least 2 to 3 treatment sessions that are a minimum of one month apart. Most patients have minimal to no downtime. Bruising is uncommon and swelling is typically mild. Makeup can usually be worn immediately after treatment.

Maintenance

Dr. Mandal performs annual maintenance treatments using Sculptra® to help her patients maintain an adequately corrected 2 year result.

For patients desiring extra protection from the risk of bruising, we offer the Ihance post-injection serum with patented TriHex technology to accelerate recovery as well as minimize bruising and swelling.

Patients with a history of cold sores should notify our office in advance of treatment in order to determine if anti-viral prophylaxis is necessary. Patients on blood thinners may go off of them only with permission of their internist or cardiologist.

Dr. Mandal has performed Sculptra® Aesthetic treatments on many hundreds of patients.

Dr. Mandal commonly combines Sculptra® Aesthetic treatments with botox, fillers, laser and surgery for enhanced results.
